Nobody knows why they come.
But just as the swallows always return to San Juan Capistrano
and the buzzards return to Hinckley, Ohio,
the herd returns for the annual pig roast.
This particular breed is known as the "American Pink" and is unusual
in that it migrates farther north than any other known breed of flamingo.
This is also one of the larger herds of American Pinks,
which usually gather in much smaller numbers in residential areas,
often attracted by colorful chrome ball ornaments.
